ComfyUI's October builds: camera nodes, open image models, and the partner video nodes

Oct 21, 2026 · Jay

ComfyUI shipped a stack of builds in October. Some of them add nodes for models the changelog files under open-source support. Some of them add partner nodes that call someone else’s service. Those are different things, and the changelog labels them differently. This note follows those labels. It does not turn a partner name into an open weight.

Our ComfyUI row was checked against the GitHub repository comfyanonymous/ComfyUI. Release v0.42.1 there was published 19 October 2026. The license on that repository is GPL-3.0, and the README names Windows, Linux, and macOS. The docs changelog is ahead of that tag. It lists v0.42.1 on October 19 as a graph-cleanup fix, then v0.42.2 on October 20 and v0.42.3 on October 21. The manual install page tells you to clone https://github.com/Comfy-Org/ComfyUI.git. This piece does not claim those two GitHub URLs are the same remote. It states both facts and leaves the mapping to the project.

If you want the install clicks and a first previs graph, that is Getting started with ComfyUI for animation previs. This page is the October list.

The open-model notes

On October 13, v0.40.0, under New Open-Source Model Support, the changelog adds Qwen-Image 2.1 Turbo, described as the 8-step accelerated Qwen-Image 2.1 checkpoint, with text-to-image and image-edit templates. The same release’s template package, Templates v0.11.82, includes a text-to-image template at 1024×1024 in 8 sampling steps, with an optional Qwen 3.5 prompt enhancer, and an image-edit template that uses two reference images.

On October 15, v0.41.0 puts FLUX.3 Image Klein under New Open-Source Model Support: native support for the base and step-distilled checkpoints, with the Qwen3-VL-4B text encoder and the existing Flux2 VAE. The bundled templates in v0.11.84 are a base text-to-image, a base image edit with two text prompts, and distilled variants. The distilled text-to-image template is described as 15 sampling steps with no classifier-free guidance. A separate October 2 line, in v0.38.2, says “BFL’s FLUX 3 image model” without filing it under open-source support. Do not collapse that line into the October 15 Klein note. They are different entries.

On October 18, v0.42.0 adds MOSS-Image under New Open-Source Model Support: native text-to-image and layout-guided generation, with bilingual text, plus layout prompts driven by bounding boxes. On October 20, v0.42.2 adds MOSS-Image Color and Depth Control: a flat color map and a depth map, with the depth map generated in a subgraph.

v0.42.1, October 19, is one line: graph cleanup so model-prefetch cleanups stay in sync and repeated runs release memory reliably. That is the build our directory recorded. It is not a new model.

The camera nodes are the previs part

Still in v0.40.0, and not filed as a partner update, the changelog adds Camera Angle and Create Camera Info. Camera Angle takes a horizontal angle, a vertical angle, and a zoom. It outputs a camera_info and a plain-English shot description for prompts. Create Camera Info builds a camera_info in orbit, look-at, or quaternion mode for Render Splat and the other 3D camera nodes. LoRA stack loaders in the same release apply several LoRAs from one node, each with its own file, strength, and switch, to the diffusion model or the text encoder.

Templates v0.11.82 also adds LTX-2.5 DFR: Image to Video, described as three-stage image-to-video with spatial and optional temporal upscaling, plus audio generated in the same pass. The changelog does not put that template under the open-source heading. This note will not invent a license for it. It is listed, and the previs guide treats it as a template you can load, not as a weight we have audited.

Partner nodes, named as partner nodes

The changelog’s Partner Node Updates heading is the other pile.

On October 5, v0.39.0 deprecates the Luma Ray 2 nodes and says they will be removed on October 24. The October 13 template note repeats that the Ray 2 endpoints shut down on October 24. The same October 5 release adds --offline and --disable-partner-nodes, and says --disable-api-nodes is deprecated.

On October 8, v0.39.2 lists Kling Virtual Try-On, a Clarity AI Crystal Upscaler with a scale factor up to 200x, Vidu Q4 Preview for image-to-video and reference-to-video from 540p to 4K with synchronized audio, and Quiver SVG V2. Those entries are not under New Open-Source Model Support. This desk is not calling them open models.

On October 13, the partner heading covers Fish Audio Drama 3, Higgsfield Genjutsu Motion Transfer, and a 2K option on HeyGen Video 1.0. The matching templates reconstruct a clip from reference images while keeping motion, or they direct voices. On October 15, v0.41.1 adds a Krea 3 Image partner node: up to 8 reference images, 1K or 2K, and a precise edit mode. On October 20, partner updates include a Clarity AI Crystal Video Upscaler and FLUX 3 Max and FLUX 3 Video at 2K and 4K. On October 21, v0.42.3’s partner updates are Bria FIBO 2.0 and HeyGen Voice 1.0 for instant voice cloning and text to speech. Templates that day are v0.11.93.

None of those product names are linked here. They are services. The open-source page we list is the ComfyUI repository row. A practical start that stays on the documented local install is the previs guide.
